Java & The GRE!

Feeling overwhelmed by all the study material out there? Finding it hard to study in isolation, alone at your desk? Outraged by the exorbitant hourly fees charged by so-called “high-end” tutors?

If so, there’s a much easier way. Come up to Paul’s North London home and sit around the kitchen table while students drink coffee, exchange tips and techniques, and learn to master the GRE in a relaxed and safe learning environment.

For those who like their coffee deep, dark and strong! Depending on the week, students will have their choice of Brazilian, Italian or Colombian blends. The rich coffee aroma will swirl around the table as we work through mathematical abstractions!

For those preferring a lighter brew, welcome to the blonde side of the aisle! Here we have blends from Ethiopia, Sumatra, Guatemala and Kenya. Keep your eyes focused on the problems as you sip a glorious cup of Joe!

An assortment of sweeteners will be provided, including good ol’ white sugar, Demerara, Nutrasweet and Stevia.

To lighten your coffee, semi- and skim milk, as well as evaporated milk and single cream will be on hand.

Come join us Sunday afternoons or Monday nights for a fun, lively roundtable where we drink copious amounts of brew and work through all types of GRE problems. The group is comprised of 5 students and Paul, and there is no minimum skill level or score needed to participate. We meet at Paul’s house in Highgate (4 mins from the tube stop) and spend 2 hours working problems and having a laugh.

Paul has taught group sessions for years, as far back as 2004 in NYC. The collegial environment is a great way to learn and many students often link up with a “study buddy” they meet during one of Paul’s sessions. All books and materials are provided – just show up!

Students can join at any time. The course material is on a continuous loop and there is no “ideal” time to begin. None of the material is a prerequisite for any lesson, so you don’t need to learn the concepts in any particular order. Importantly, the GRE test questions are randomly assigned by topic, so your first question on test day could be from any area of math. The complete GRE course runs for about 3 months and you are welcome to start at any time.

Course price is £135/session and there’s no minimum number of sessions. Come as often or as infrequently as you’d like!

Below is a calendar of the upcoming classes. If you only need help in a few particular areas, then feel free to attend only those classes.

Schedule is Sunday from 3-5pm and Monday evenings, 7-9pm.
